Teacher guide
From your first class to a live lesson with Math Explorer, in four steps.
-
1
Create a class and share it
On My classes, make a class. Its page shows the class code and the link; copy them and share them with your pupils, for example on the board or in your school system. Need names you can count on? Add the pupils under Personal links: every pupil gets an own link with the name already filled in.
-
2
Pupils join
Pupils open the link, or type the code on the start page, and type their name. If the lesson has not started yet, they wait on a waiting page and go in by themselves as soon as you start.
-
3
Start the lesson and open Math Explorer
Press Start lesson. The lesson opens with the list of Math Explorer applets next to it (later: Apps, then Math Explorer, in the menu on the left). Search an applet or filter by level and curriculum, then press Show to class.
-
4
The class follows you, or explores
With Class follows me, every pupil sees exactly what you do in the applet. Switch to Everyone explores and each pupil gets an own copy to try things out; Reset applet puts everything back. The Whiteboard button shows the whiteboard and keeps the applet as it is; Back to the applet brings it back.
Good to know
Classroom lesson or online lesson
Choose it in the settings of the class; it counts from the next lesson. In a classroom lesson there is no sound and there are no cameras: everybody hears you in the room. In an online lesson everybody joins with sound; in the user list you can mute pupils.
Ending the lesson
Press End lesson on the page of the class, or use the red leave button in the lesson and choose End meeting. Everybody leaves the lesson; pupils see a short goodbye page.
The code is shared outside the class
On the page of the class, choose New link and code. The old link and code stop working at once. Personal links can be renewed one by one.
Letting pupils in one by one
Turn on the waiting room in the settings of the class. From the next lesson on, you let every pupil in yourself.
